Ok I'll send you an email when I have had a proper think too. I'm going to look into machining from a solid billet so there is no bending required, obviously the design will be quite different.

I've just spoken to Balfa UK and there are no more replacement plates around and they cant make any more. So my only way out of this mess is to design and manufacture some custom CNC plates really. Would you be able to possibly help with the manufacture of these?

Cant get any decent pics for you. I have now stripped my frame down and it turns out only the non-driveside plate has cracked and its happened by an area that has clearly been heated with a blowtorch in the past as the anodizing is discolored. I think the adaptors are fine and the plate that has cracked on me has been heated and bent about a bit in the past.

Just letting you know that I've found cracks in both the linkage plates on my Appalache. Maybe the slack adaptors aren't the best idea, I'd recommend checking yours out and possibly removing the adaptors
